The back up power supply protected the computer and nothing else was affected so what caused this? As far as I can tell the PowerMax just burned up. I had a cheap surge protector outlet before it and the backup power supply behind it and the only things plugged into it was the backup power supply monitor and answering machine.

  So it looks like I spent the extra money to protect my equipment from surges, and it almost cost me my home. Oh ya and my power supply it melted to the cord now it’s useless.
